Founded in 1986, Costcutter has fulfilled its mission
to form a retail symbol group that would offer size,
competitiveness and profitability to the independent
retailer. It now boasts 1200 stores in the UK and has
no intentions of stopping there. Beyond the UK, Costcutter
has established a European presence with 65 stores in
Southern Ireland and a further 52 in Poland.
Clearly Costcutter's expansion over recent years has
been impressive. A continued pattern of growth has been
achieved by Costcutter's ability to differentiate itself
from its rivals with a competitive price positioning
and a stronger grocery offer, facilitated by the national
distribution and trading terms received by Nisa-Today's
membership. Indeed, Costcutter now represent 40 percent
of all volume and turnover through Nisa's distribution
centres.
